Maryland men’s soccer draws with Penn State 2-2 in double overtime thriller

In the 20th minute, the Nittany Lions lobbed the brawl into the Terps defensive end, equally freshman midfielder/forward Peter Mangione took the ball and moved forward inside the Maryland box. Maryland was defending the residual of the match with their lead, as Penn State was trying hard to equalize. In the 86th minute, the Nittany Lions were able to break through the stout Maryland defence to tie the game at 2.
The kickoff overtime saw Penn State create chances with the seemingly tired Terps defense. Mangione was in a great opportunity as he was alone with Lowell in front of the internet. Lowell charged out of the net and deflected the Mangione shot enough to proceed Maryland alive.
Neither side was able to pause through in the first 10 minutes of overtime. Nonetheless, Mangione's chance was the best, and Penn State seemed to take more opportunities. Maryland had a hazard in overtime later on Gielen delivered a brilliant cross simply junior frontwards/midfielder Brayan Padilla's shot was deflected away.
The horn sounded to signal the match's cease, which ended in a ii-ii draw in what was a shut contest throughout.
"Apparently, we're gutted to not get the victory out of that," Gielen said. "I think nosotros played well plenty that we deserved it."
